Clefts are one of the most common craniofacial anomalies tha occur during birth. In Cyprus, around 15 babies with cleft lip/palate are born every year and the exact causes remain unknown. Similar are also the conditions when it comes to other craniofacial anomalies and syndromes.
The correction of the cleft/s is arranged and completed within a few months after the birth. The scars that occur, follow the natural direction of the filter of the lip and most times they become almost invisible with the passing of time.
